Transport of goods from England to Norway
Documents necessary to move to Norway:
After Brexit, the number of documents required when moving to Norway has increased significantly. One of the most important is the Transfer of Residence status, which allows you to be exempt from VAT on imports (in Norway, it constitutes 25% of the total value of goods).
Before starting the entire moving procedure, we will need the documentation necessary to convince the customs authorities in Norway that your move actually qualifies for Transfer of Residence status.
Documents we will need from you to collect your property:
• Copy of ID card or passport;
• Completed Importation of personal property declaration (RD 0030E). It must be printed and signed by hand and given to our driver;
• Proof of residence outside Norway for at least the last 12 months (e.g. 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements with address);
• A document confirming your stay in Norway, e.g. an employment contract, a payslip, a student certificate or a statement from a family member if you intend to live with them;
• Detailed packing list with value, size and weight of each item listed.
Print and sign all required documents and have them ready for the driver before collecting your property and, for safety, also send them electronically.
Another important document is the CMR form, which our driver will provide you to complete on the day of the move.
To speed up this process, you can contact your local customs office in Norway.
You can find out more information about bringing personal items into Norway directly from the government websites.
