Documents necessary to move to Ireland:
Post-Brexit, moving from the UK to Ireland requires certain formalities to be completed and you will be exempt from import VAT (23% of the total value) on the property you move. For this purpose, it will be necessary to obtain the Transfer of Residence status, based on the documentation you have prepared. As the Ban Trans team, we try to make the entire moving process easier for you and therefore you need to prepare the following documents:
• Copy of ID card or passport;
• Completed Irish customs form C&E 1076 (Rev.1) & TOR1
• A detailed bill of lading with the value, size and weight of each item listed;
• Scanned proof of your address in Ireland, such as a tenancy agreement or residence certificate. If you do not have an address in Ireland, you will need a statement from the person you will be living with, signed by your local An Garda Síochána station, and a scanned document confirming your address.
• British residence certificate or other evidence that you have lived in the UK for at least the last 12 months (e.g. 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements showing your address);
• Document confirming that you have ceased to live in the UK (letter from the former owner or sale deed);
• Document certifying your cessation of employment in the UK (form p45 or letter from former employer);
• Employment contract or letter from your new employer in Ireland.
Print and sign all required documents and have them ready for the driver before collecting your property and, for safety, also send them electronically.
Another important document is the CMR form, which our driver will provide you to complete on the day of the move.
To speed up the process you can contact your local customs office in Ireland.
