Transport of goods from England to Slovenia
Documents necessary to move to Slovenia:
Brexit has meant that moving from the UK to Slovenia requires the preparation of extensive documentation if we do not want to be charged import VAT (22% of the total value) on the property being moved. When the customs authorities recognize that the appropriate conditions have been met, the Transfer of Residence status will be granted and, as a result, VAT exemption on the transported property will occur. As the Ban Trans team, we strive to make the entire moving process easier for you and for this purpose you will need to prepare the following documents:
• Copy of ID card or passport;
• A certificate of registration issued by the local government in Slovenia confirming your place of residence, or if the EU customs agent agrees, then you only need to present a document confirming that you are an EU resident or intend to become one;
• A detailed bill of lading with the value, size and weight of each item listed;
• British residence certificate or other evidence that you have lived in the UK for at least the last 12 months (e.g. 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements showing your address);
• A declaration to the customs authorities that you have used the household items at your usual place of residence in the UK for more than six months and that you will not sell, rent or pawn them once you receive them in your new place, and that you intend to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
• Signed authorization for the customs clearance agent to act on your behalf.
Print and sign all required documents and have them ready for the driver before collecting your property and, for safety, also send them electronically.
Another important document is the CMR form, which our driver will provide you to complete on the day of the move.
To speed up this process, you can contact your local customs office in Slovenia.
You can find out more information about bringing personal items into Slovenia directly from the government websites.
